Obituary

Lena Alice Pace, 97, peacefully entered the presence of her Lord, leaving behind a legacy of faith, kindness and deep love for her family.

Lena was born on September 3, 1928, in Kosciusko, Mississippi, to the late Laban C. Holt and Ludie Mae Gregg Holt. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 38 years, James Elmer Pace; her sons, Ralph and Mark; her grandsons, Michael and Justin; and her brothers, Albert, Alvin and Durelle Holt.

She is survived by her loving children, Terry Pace, Mike Pace and Judy Dean (George); her grandchildren, Steven Pace, Derrek Pace (Christy), Chad Pace, Chelsea Hardwick (Collin) and Dylan Haynes; her great-grandchildren, Shelby, Jacob, Zoey, Carver and Garner; her great-great-grandchildren, Emory and Tate; her sister, Ida Mae Cottrell; her niece, Judy Reed and her nephew, Bill Holt (Ila).

Lena lived in the Mid-South area and retired from Dover Elevator Company after many years of dedicated service. More importantly, she was a devoted Christian and a lifelong Baptist whose faith in the Lord guided her life. She lived with quiet grace, humility and a servant’s heart, offering love to everyone around her.

In her younger years, Lena was an avid reader and made frequent trips to the library, always with books in hand. She faithfully worked the daily crossword puzzle, enjoyed crafting, loved listening to gospel music and treasured every opportunity to gather with her family.

To those who knew her best, she was simply “Mom” or “Momoo.” She was a soft-spoken, gentle and kind-hearted treasure whose presence brought comfort and peace. Her homemade chocolate pie was a family favorite and the stories she shared around the dining room table became cherished memories that will live on for generations. She had a remarkable way of making everyone feel loved and welcomed.

Though her family grieves her passing, they rejoice in knowing she is now home with her Savior, fully restored and reunited with those who have gone before her. Her memory will live on through all who were blessed to know and love her.

A graveside service celebrating Lena’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 5th at Forest Hill Cemetery South.
