Lester Clinton "L.C." Nix, Jr. died at home on Thursday, February 13, 2014. He was born on March 28, 1927 in Tunica, MS. He graduated from Horn Lake High School in 1945, leaving two weeks before graduation to join the Navy. He served in the Seabees, being honorably discharged in 1946. L.C. was married to his wife of 67 years, Anna Julia Hamilton Nix. He worked as a carpenter before joining the Memphis Fire Department in 1952. He retired as Deputy Chief of Memphis Fire Department in 1983. He was preceded in death by his parents; 5 sisters and 1 brother. He is survived by his wife, Ann; 4 children and their spouses; 4 grandchildren and their spouses; 5 great-grandchildren; one sister and many, many nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation will be held Sunday, February 16 from 3 p.m. - 5 p.m. with funeral service on Monday, February 17 at 2 p.m. at Forest Hill South Cemetery at 2545 E. Holmes Rd. 901-346-3250.
