Levi D. (L.D.) Maddox of Collierville, TN (79) went home to be with the Lord April 11th, 2014. He was born in Saulsbury, TN January 6, 1935. He was a retired truck driver with 35 years of service most recently at Yellow Freight. He was a member, deacon, usher, and faithful servant at Collierville Assembly of God. L.D. was the spiritual leader and rock solid foundation of his family. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 56 years Marilyn. L.D. had Alzheimer's disease, and our mom's unending care and love for daddy honored her vow of until death do we part. Son of Joseph and Willie Maddox who preceded him in death as well as his beloved brother Sam and sister Alice Faye. He's survived by his brother Tommy (Jeanette) Maddox and sisters, Josephine Gaines and Nell (Jimmy) Cantrell. He also leaves his children, Barry Maddox, Tony (Debbie) Maddox, and Sharis (Neal) Newman. L.D. also leaves eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren that adored their Papaw. His early retirement gave L.D. the opportunity to attend most of our kid's events and he rarely missed anything. The family will be eternally grateful to the nurses and staff of Gardens of Germantown Memory Care Center for their compassionate care of our father and husband the past year. He also received excellent care from Hospice Advantage. L.D. was a kind and gentle spirit who spoke softly and loved his family unconditionally. We will celebrate his life with a visitation 6-8 p.m. Monday, April 14 and service 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 15 at Forest Hill East Funeral Home with interment following.
