Linda Dian Black was born on January 20, 1951, in Indianapolis.

She died peacefully in Memphis on September 9, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones. Raised in Frayser, she met Andy Black, her husband-to-be, in the eighth grade and both Linda and Andy attended Frayser High School.  Linda worked for many years at Fed Ex until her retirement. Since her retirement, Linda has had various positions, and she returned to the University of Memphis where she earned her bachelor's degree in creative writing at the age of 62. She always focused on loving her family and was very proud of them.

She leaves behind her husband of 54 years, Andy Black, her two sons, Nathan Black (Laura) and Jeffrey Black, her grandchildren, Gage Black and Kyra Black, a brother, Steve Johnston (Shannon) as well as in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Maureen Johnston and her father, Norman Johnston.

Services to remember Linda will take place at Forest Hill Memorial Park East at 2440 Whitten Road, Memphis, TN 38133. Visitation will begin at 1:00p and the memorial service will begin at 2:00p.
