Dorcas "Linda" Butler passed away at her home in Germantown, TN on Saturday, April 6, 2024. She showed great strength and resilience in her battle with cancer and dementia before she went to be with her Lord and Savior. She was 84.

Linda was born on September 3, 1939 in Humboldt, TN to George Irby and Ellie Nomel Powell. She was one of seven siblings. Linda often shared memories of her childhood in Humboldt and the many adventures she had with her sisters.

The family moved to Memphis and Linda graduated from White Station High School. She was working at Maryland Casualty Insurance when she married Robert Butler in 1962. Linda soon became a fulltime mother and focused on raising their four children.

Linda enjoyed attending church, painting and crafts, playing cards with her sisters, gardening and spending time with her grandsons.

Linda was predeceased by her parents, her brother Howard Powell, her sister Charlotte Scroggins, and Robert Butler, her husband of 62 years who passed away March 16, 2024.

Linda is survived by her children, Cynthia Butler, Steven (Leecie) Butler), Michael (Karyn) Butler, Christopher (Shelia) Butler; her grandsons, Nicholas Butler and Laynie Butler; her sisters, Jean Thompson, Carolyn Collins and Wanda Woods; her brother George "Sonny" Powell; and nieces and nephews.
