Lois Laverne Courtney passed from this life peacefully in her home in Memphis, TN during the early morning hours of Friday, January 23, 2015 in the loving embrace of her family. Born to Hilliard Arthur and Carrie Leona Russell in Memphis, TN on January 11, 1931, she was a member of the Assenbly of God Church and retired from the Shelby County schools. Ms. Courtney known best for her selfless generosity, is cherished and survived by four children - Brenda, Robert and Jerry Brigman, Carrie Templeton, seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren. Visitation is Monday, January 26, 5:30-7:30 p.m. and Memorial services Tuesday, January 27 at 10 a.m., all at Forest Hill East Funeral Home.
