Obituary

Lois Eakin Horton passed away August 28, 2013 of unknown causes. She leaves behind her husband, Steve Horton, three sons, Brad Simpson, Wes Simpson (daughter-in-law Paulene Simpson), and Wade Horton, a sister, Sandy Bryant, and two grandchildren, Anthony Clason and Secret Petersen. Lois was born October 26, 1957 in Shelbyville, IN and was the daughter of the late Red and Marjorie Eakin of Mohawk, IN. After attending college at Purdue University, she moved to Chicago, IL where she became involved in harness horse racing until the early 1980s. After moving to Memphis in 1984, she began working as a coordinator of the Baptist Hospital ER. After many years there, she moved on to work for the UT Medical Group. In 2004, she opened her own medical billing company and became a successful local business owner. Lois was a former booster club president of the Cordova SYS football, cheerleading, and track program that her sons were a part of. She was one of the original members to help get that program up and running. She was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She will be dearly missed by all that loved her. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you give to her favorite charity St. Jude Children''s Research Hospital in Memphis, TN. Visitation is September 2, 2013 from 11-1 at Forest Hill East, followed by cremation Forest Hill East Funeral Home
