Obituary

With profound sadness , we announce the passing of Lola Kate Tanner , age 92. She left us while peacefully sleeping at her residence in Hernando , MS on May 9, 2021. She was born March 29, 1929 in Seymour, Tennessee to William Graves and Augusta Mae Finley . She was married forty-six years, to the love of her life, Oswald P. Tanner, who preceded her in death in 19 98 . Lola Kate Tanner was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her children , Mike and Vicki e , and embraced every moment she spent with them. She always put them above herself and loved them unconditionally. She also embraced her role as a loving wife . I remember how she enjoy ed cooking fresh meals every night for her husband and family, from vegetables she grew in the garden , which always was proceeded by watching her favorite nighttime game show, Wheel of Fortune. She and her husband always enjoyed traveling and spent many weekends camping at Arkabutla Lake. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, taking them on camping trips, visits to McDonald's for happy meals, and trips to Wal-Mart to pick out their favorite toy. She loved walks around her neighborhood and on occasion you could talk her into a wild, risk taking ride in the little red wagon , with the grandkids , down the steep hill beside her home. She always loved playing games, Skip-bo, Rummikub, and Yahtzee where several of her favorites. In her early years she enjoyed working at the bakery and was an excellent baker. She enjoyed sewing and making little stuffed rabbits, w earing homemade dresses and bows in their ears. She enjoyed reading books and singing nursery rhymes to her children and grandchildren. Her favorite one to sing was a nursery tale called, "Two Babes in the Woods." She will forever be missed and her loving memory will always be embedded in our hearts. She is survived by; Son Michael Andrews, sister Dorothy Henry, Grandchildren, Laura Flanagan, Valentina Andrews, and Victoria Blaylock Great grandchildren Collin Andrews, Emmori Andrews, Issaac Andrews, Hatley, Harrison, Tanner Harrison, and Gradyn Harrison. Nieces, Phyllis Pursell, Anna Ruth King, Sue Lambert, Judy Crowe, Janet Holbert, and Angela Williams. Nephews: Billy Joe Graves , David Graves, and Wallace Henry III. She is proceeded in death by: Parents: William Graves and Augusta Mae Finley, Husband Oswald P. Tanner, Daughter Vicki Strayhorn. Sisters: Margaret Dinkins, Helen Alicia. Brothers : James Graves, John Graves.

A memorial s ervice will be held graveside at 11:30 a.m. on Friday , May 14, 2021 at the Forest Hill Cemetery located on Holmes Rd. in Memphis, TN. All are welcomed to attend and celebrate the life of Lola Kate Tanner.
