Obituary

Louise Crawford, age 90, of Pleasant Hill, MS, passed peacefully from this earthly life into the presence of her Lord Jesus Christ on December 28, 2022.

She was born March 10, 1932 to Walter and Lena Babb, Mrs. Crawford grew up in Memphis, TN, and graduated in 1950 from Tech High School. In 1951 she married James A. "Tank" Crawford, Sr. She lived in Quantico, VA, during her husband's enlistment in the US Marine Corps, and in Vicksburg, MS, during his tenure as a football coach at Ole Miss. She also resided for 25 years in Memphis, TN, supporting her husband's Federal Probation career. His retirement would take them to Coldwater and Pleasant Hill, MS.

A faithful church member all her life, Mrs. Crawford enjoyed participation in the church life of Labelle Haven Baptist Church in Memphis, singing in the choir and enjoying "Prime Timer" outings with her husband at Coldwater Baptist Church, and engaging as her health permitted at Desoto Hills Baptist Church.

If asked what she found most rewarding, Mrs. Crawford would say that it had been being a wife, mother and homemaker.  She was adored by her family, and treasured by her friends as loving, loyal, generous, and kind. Most of all, she was highly esteemed as a godly example of her Christian faith.

Mrs. Crawford was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, James "Jimmy" Crawford, Sr.; son, John David Crawford; and daughter-in-law, Deborah Kay Crawford, also, her parents, Walter and Lena Babb, sisters, Helen Bushnell, Hazel Finney, and Gerene Baird; and her brother, Buddy Babb.

Surviving Mrs. Crawford are daughters, Susan Williams (Paul) of Pleasant Hill, MS;  and Carolyn Gindt of Lakeland, TN; sons, James Crawford, Jr. (Donna) of Canton, NY; Stephen Crawford  (Terry) of Bartlett, TN; and Mike Crawford, of Arkabutla, MS;  also 13 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren, as well as nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be made to: Gideons International or St, Jude Children's Hospital.
