Lurline (Clayton) Dennis was born on October 25, 1940, in Red Banks, Mississippi, to Mr. Manuel Clayton and Mrs. Tennessee Jones. She transitioned from this life peacefully on the morning of May 21, 2023 at Saint Francis Hospital. Lurline confessed a hope in Christ at an early age. She was baptized and joined Pleasant Grove MB Church. Preceding her, were five brothers: Robert Lee, Willie, Lester, Manuel, and Eugene and four sisters: Ellen, Susie, Margaret, and Nonia. Mourning her transition, but celebrating her life are her seven sons: Jerome, Maurice (Regina), Mark (Angela), Cleveland, Antonio (Monica), Dewayne, and Christopher; four daughters Jacqueline, Sherry, KaShunder, and Tanya (Maurice); and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends. Lurline was a loving wife, mother, and friend. She enjoyed reading the bible, listening to Mahalia Jackson, and being at home. Most of all, she loved to "Put some on the table". She found joy in preparing meals for her family and friends. Even in her older years when she became unable to prepare meals, if you asked her what she wanted for her birthday, Christmas, or Mother's Day, her merger request was for us to simply "Put some on the table". Family, fellowship, and food were her life's passion.
