Mack Ferrin Acuff, age 79, passed away November 5, 2014 in Bells, TN. Mr. Acuff was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin Mack and Muriel Cobb Acuff, brothers, Noel, Marvin Mack Jr., Roland, and Travis Acuff. He is survived by his loving wife, of over 50 years, Marilyn McNeill Acuff; daughters, Suzanne Harrison and Sondra Lawrence; grandchildren, Ferrin Lawrence, Robert Lawrence II, and Ryan Harrison; and sons-in-law, Roger Harrison and Brian Lawrence. A Bells, TN native, Mr. Acuff had a distinguished career as a Captain in the US Air Force, serving his country for 23 years. He also spent 20 years working for the Memphis Commercial Appeal, while serving as a Reserve Memphis Police officer for more than 25 years. Throughout Mr. Acuff''s life, he enjoyed boating, fishing, hunting, and collecting classic Ford Mustang cars. His discretional time is best described as selflessly serving and working to protect the citizens of Memphis, through his role as a reserve officer. In lieu of flowers, please direct donations to The Memphis/Shelby County Law enforcement foundation, supporting the fallen officer program, or The Wounded Warrior Project. Service will be 2 p.m. Monday, November 10 at Forest Hill East with visitation starting at 1 p.m. Burial will be in Forest Hill East Cemetery.
