Madge Elizabeth May, 91, loving mother, grandmother and sister passed away on Tuesday, August 27, 2018 at Life Pointe Village in Southaven. Mrs May was born in Crenshaw, MS. In her earlier years of marriage she had been a military wife then she worked as a Real Estate Broker for many years. She was preceded in death by her first husband, John M. Gifford and also her second husband of 25 years, Walter May; her son, John W. Gifford, her parents, Gabriel Ernest and Laura Christine Lockhart; also four sisters: Virginia Merrill, Doris Godbold, Oudia Adsmond, Margaret Lambert and brother, James Ernest Lockhart.
Madge leaves five children: James P. Mitchell IV of Horn Lake, MS, Barbara Joyce Hodge (John) of Holly Springs, MS, Mary Susan Austin (Chris) of Hernando, MS, Richard Dennis Gifford of Walls and Betty Jane Crowder (Chuck) of Olive Branch; three sisters: Gladys Phillips (Kenneth) of Cordova, TN, Billie Faye Lewellyn of Scot, AR and Lorene Borden of Horn Lake, MS ; also one brother, Paul Lockhart (Jean) of Niceville, FL; 9 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
Visiation will be from 9:30 to 11:00 am Tuesday, September 4 at First Baptist Church of Horn Lake with service immediately following. Burial will be in Forest Hill South Cemetery
