Mae Helen Gooch died on February 2, 2015, in Memphis, Tennessee. Born on August 8, 1930 to Claude and Azilee Wilkins in Darden Tennessee, she attended Lexington High School where she met her high school
sweetheart and soon to be husband, Donald Gooch. They were married in 1949 and moved to Memphis where they shared 47 years together until his death in 1996. Helen was a member of Kirby Woods Baptist Church and a devoted Christian who worshipped our Lord, loved her church, family and friends. As a student of the Word of God, she faithfully taught her Ladies Sunday School Class for many years. Her strength resided in her Lord, her prayer closet, and her love for her family. Along with her husband Don, Helen was also preceded in death by her sister Aline Derryberry. She is survived by her sister Nadine Hearington, her two children: Becky Pearson (Casey) of Germantown, Tim Gooch (Pam) of Cordova, her five grandchildren Jill Garnett, Nicholas Pearson, Amy Whittington, Austin Gooch and Allison Gooch and eight great grandchildren. Visitation will be 12:30 pm until service began at 2 pm, Friday, February 6, 2015 at Kirby Woods Baptist Church with interment following in Forest Hill East Cemetery.
