Marcia Lynn Harris Coates, 67, resident of Bridgetown, Nesbit, Mississippi, went to be with her Lord at 3:35 a.m., Sunday, March 25, 2018, at Hospice at Baptist Memorial Hospital East, surrounded by her family.

Marcia was born in Ripley, Mississippi on July 1, 1950.  She attended schools in Memphis, Tennessee, Jacksonville, Florida, and Irving, Texas.  She attended college in Irving, Texas and in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, returning to Memphis to attend Memphis State University.  She worked thirty years in the insurance business.  She worked for McDonnell Insurance, Harris, Madden and Powell Insurance and McDaniel-Whitley Insurance.

She was an active member of Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church.  After retirement, she served in many ministries, creating the church bulletins, Lutheran Women Mission League, Prayer Shawl Ministry, Altar Guild, and many others.  She lived her faith.  We will miss her servant's heart and loving ways.  Her sense of humor brought joy to our lives.

She is preceded by her father, William A. Harris, Jr., of Memphis, Tennessee.  She is preceded by her husband, John W. Coates.  Marcia and John married on January 18, 1986, in Memphis, Tennessee.  She leaves her 90 year old mother, Velma Street Harris of Bridgetown, Nesbit, Mississippi and three step-daughters: Kim Coates (Scott) Chaffin of Kuna, Idaho; Melissa Coates (John) Ellsworth of Nampa, Idaho; and Mendy Coates of Nampa, Idaho.  She leaves seven step-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren all of Idaho.  She leaves three sisters: Sharon Harris Peacock of Jacksonville, Florida, Deborah Harris (Steve) Powell and Tona Harris (Steve) Hunter, both of Bridgetown, Nesbit, Mississippi.  She leaves four nephews and two nieces and many loving uncles, aunts and cousins.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Wednesday, March 28, 2018, at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, located at 7630 Davison Road, Olive Branch, Mississippi 38654.  Mr. Gary Kinne will officiate.

Interment will follow at Forest Hill Funeral Home and Memorial Park-East located at 2440 Whitten Road, Memphis, Tennessee 38133.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00a.m., on Wednesday, March 28, 2018, at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, at Marcia's request.  Marcia, we will always carry your memory in our hearts.
