Obituary

Marcus Glenn Looney left his earthly home on Thursday, July 23 to be with his Heavenly Father where he was greeted with open arms by his loving father Gerald Looney, his sweet mama Sue Looney, and his faithful dog Max. Anyone that knew Marcus knew that he was a joyful person that always loved a good laugh. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed wetting a hook any chance he got. He also had a huge love for animals and always had pet food in his truck in case he came across a hungry stray. He had the most amazing green thumb of any human I’ve ever known and could grow anything. And he never turned down an opportunity to hang out with family and friends or go 4-wheeler muddin. He also loved his job with RJ Corman Railroad and the people he worked with there. And if you were ever hungry, his house was the place to go. That boy could cook and loved to do it. He will be greatly missed by so many.

He is preceded in death by his parents Gerald & Sue Looney of Southaven, MS and his grandparents Harry & Mary McElroy, Grace McElroy, and Frazier & Lillian Looney.

He is survived by his fiancé Melissa Harris of Southaven, MS and his brother Kevin (Sharon) Looney of Pilot Point, TX, his nephew Steven (Melanie) Looney of Pilot Point, TX, and his niece Amanda (Tyler) Baskin of Prosper, TX and their sons Jackson and Hayden. His is also survived by his children Hannah (Nic) Short of Olive Branch, MS and their children Presley, Ellie, Valor, & Carson, and his sons Ashton Looney of Chicago, IL, and Kyler Looney of Arlington, TN, and his 3 fur babies Lexie, Sidney, & Winston. He is also survived by Melissa’s family including her sweet mama, Rose Harris of Oakridge, TN, her brother Brandon Harris, SR, also of Oakridge, TN, and her nephew Brandon Harris, JR, and her nieces Trinity Harris, Reiley Howard, and Nevaeh Howard.

Marcus chose to be cremated, and we have honored his wishes. Therefore, we will have a celebration of life visitation for him and all are welcome. The service will be held on Saturday, August 29th from 2-5PM at Gracewood Baptist Church, 8551 Getwell Rd, Southaven, MS. In lieu of flowers, the family asked that a donation be made to the local Southaven animal shelter in memory of Marcus. A donation box will be available at the service.
