Margare Dismuke Mason went to meet her Savior on July 9, 2022. She is survived by her son Dennis (Cathy) Mason, daughter Caroline (Jonny) Payne, grandchildren Stacy Mason, Lauren (Jaymes) Collins, Matthew Troutt, Jonathon Payne II, Brandon Payne, Michael (Marisella) Meehan, Michelle Meehan, great grandchildren Lily Mason, Emmett Payne, Nathan and Tyler Meehan, and Paul and Bryson Meehan. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Mrs. Mason was preceded in death by her spouses Horace Mason (1977) and Hiram Ponce de Leon (2005), her parents George Franklin and Caroline Carpenter Dismuke, grandparents James "Jim" and Martha Taylor Dismuke, Edgar Dodd and Arrie Harris Carpenter, brothers Cecil, George, James, and Paul Dismuke, sister Frances Bowen and Radie (Clarence) Couvillon, grandson Steven Mason, niece Deborah Dismuke Davis, nephews George Franklin Dismuke II and Clarence Couvillon, grandniece Anne Couvillon, and grandnephew Steven Couvillon.
Mrs. Mason attended Memphis State University and University of Alabama Birmingham (UAB), where she was employed and upon retirement in 1995. She loved music and sang with her church choir and Sweet Adeline's in Memphis, TN. She worshipped at Wellspring Worship Center, Leeds, AL. After retirement Margare studied art and exhibited her artwork in the Southeastern area, winning many awards. She loved gardening and won the Moody Beautification Award in 2001, which inspired her to organize The Garden Club of Moody. She earned a Master Gardener Certificate in 2007. She organized the Odenville Art Club, Odenville, AL in 2008 and served as Vice President of Membership, she served as President of the Cahawba Art Club, Trussville, AL in 1998 and 2009. She enjoyed working with people of all ages and she never met a stranger. She will be remembered by her kind and generous spirit in her endeavor to serve Jesus Christ.
A "Celebration of Life" memorial will be officiated by Rev. James Collins in the Chapel at Forest Hill Home and Memorial Park – Midtown on Elvis Presley Blvd., Memphis, TN at 2 o'clock on Saturday, July 16, 2022.
