Margaret Tolley
Davis
Jan 31, 1939 — Dec 4, 2020
Margaret Tolley Davis passed away Friday, December 4, 2020 at Methodist Alliance Hospice after suffering a stroke in April. She was born January 31, 1939 in Lexington, Tennessee to Hessie & Samuel Utley Tolley. She moved to Memphis, Tennessee in 1957 to pursue her dreams!
She loved her family unconditionally, dancing with her husband, Memphis State basketball and listening to her children play music & sing. She loved to play the piano too….it was a definitely a family affair. It was not unusual to hear live music coming from the Davis household. She cherished listening & watching her son Jimmy Davis perform. She and her husband were regulars on the Memphis Music Scene and rarely missed a show. They were usually on the dance floor! She was also a big fan of her grandchildren and vice versa! She was always supportive of their dreams and proud of all their accomplishments. They loved their "Mema" and she will be dearly missed.
Margaret is preceded in death by her late husband James D. Davis and her mother and father. She is survived by three children Melanie Davis Tate, Jimmy Davis (Tracy Carroll Davis) and Paula Davis. She also leaves behind five grandchildren, Nicholas Matlock (Maddie Matlock), Jesse Davis, Davis Tate, Jake Vincent & Samantha Vincent. She also leaves behind her brother, Putt Tolley his wife Nancy Tolley, brother-in-law Kermit Davis, his wife Nancy Davis and many nieces, nephews, great nieces/nephews, friends, and fans.
Margaret loved her family and friends and in return was loved and cherished by many. We will carry her memory in our hearts forever. She is finally at peace and dancing in Heaven with her forever beloved husband of 55 years. Sail on Mema & Pop!
There will be a graveside service Friday, December 11th at 2:00 pm at Forest Hills Memorial Park East.
In lieu of flowers donations are appreciated in her memory to The Alzheimer's Association at www.alz.org.
