IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Margaret Finley
Logan
August 25, 1935 – November 23, 2023
Margaret Allen Finley Logan was born on August 25, 1935 in Finley, Tennessee, and passed into heaven on November 23, 2023 in Como, Mississippi, after living the majority of her life in Memphis.
Above all, she loved the Lord and shared His love by caring for her family, friends, and strangers alike. Margaret was a "people person" who delighted in gathering people together, whether hosting her nieces and nephews for vacation, family and church fish fries, or garden club lunches. Determined, hardworking, faithful, and with a meticulous sense of detail, there was no project too difficult for her. She was an avid gardener who loved to share her green thumb with others, and her work in the Como Garden Club left a lasting impression that is still beautifying downtown Como, MS. She was always busy, either baking and decorating cakes, antiquing, sewing, restoring her old house, singing in the choir and community choruses, attending church and Bible study, and visiting the sick and those in need. Margaret was intentional to keep in touch with friends and family and was always ready to meet any need. Margaret was a member of Open Door Bible Church, where she began a ministry to minister to older folks, Seasoned Saints. She later joined Como Baptist Church, where she served in many capacities. She loved to smile, laugh, and dance; truly the joy of the Lord was her strength. We know she is rejoicing with her Savior now and have the hope of seeing her again.
Margaret is preceded in death by both of her parents, Thomas Allen Finley and Mozella Pritchett Finley, her daughter-in-law, Jeri Lynn Logan, and her grandson, James Allen Logan.
Margaret is survived by her husband, James O. (Bud) Logan, her daughter, Rhonda Logan Sievert (Tom), her son, David Allen Logan, her eight grandchildren: Rebecca Goedecke (Steven), Carrie Logan (Peter Nathalang), Amanda Sherman (Ross), Anna Streett (Ryan), Emma Sievert, Thomas Sievert, Logan Sievert, and David Sievert. She is survived by six great grandchildren: Mattie Grace Goedecke, Norah Goedecke, Cecily Streett, Jonah Streett, Jack Sherman, and Charlotte Nathalang. Margaret is also survived by her four brothers, Gerald Finley (Carolyn), Gene Finley (Joan), Howard Finley (Sue), and Paul Finley, and many nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
Special thanks is due to the wonderful, kind hospice nurses and aides who so lovingly cared for Margaret during her time of illness.
Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 on Friday, December 1, at Forest Hill Cemetery East in Memphis, with the memorial service immediately following at 2:00.
