Margaret Louise Rosenbush Bell, known to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as Grummie, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2013, just nine days short of her 95th birthday. Margaret was born to parents Mervin Maas and Ruth Crawford Rosenbush on June 4, 1918 in Memphis, Tennessee, where she lived for the first 89 years of her life before moving to Norman, Oklahoma in 2007. A 1937 graduate of Memphis Central High School, Margaret worked as a secretary. During World War II she volunteered as a Red Cross "Gray Lady" at the Memphis VA Hospital, where, in 1945, she met her future husband of 56 years. During her life she was a homemaker, Cub Scout leader and an active member of the Parents Teachers Association, Beta Sigma Phi, Entre Nous and the Second Church of Christ, Scientist, all in Memphis. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and a sister, and her husband, Paul Burton Bell, Sr. She is survived by her three sons and their wives: Paul B. Bell, Jr. and Terry C. Bell of Norman; John C. Bell, Sr. and Melissa V. Bell of Sevierville, Tennessee; and Jack M. Bell and Patti Bell of Westminster, Maryland. She is also survived by her sister Virginia Clements of St. Louis, Missouri; her brother and sister-in-law Robert and Loretta Rosenbush of Memphis, Tennessee; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and 13 nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 o''clock p.m. on Saturday, June 8 at Forest Hill East Funeral Home, 2440 Whitten Rd., Memphis, Tennessee 38133. In lieu of flowers gifts may be made to the University of Oklahoma Foundation, 100 Timberdell Road, Norman, OK 73019-0685 (Margaret Bell fund) or in her name to the charity of your choice. The family especially wishes to thank Loving Care of Noble Oklahoma for the caring support they provided to Margaret during the last month of her life.
