Margerite Johnson Wieland, 79, of Eads, Tennessee, passed away peacefully at her home on February 15, 2026, surrounded by her loved ones.
Born on May 26, 1946, in Sarah, Mississippi, Margerite graduated from Memphis Tech High School in 1964. Throughout her life, she dedicated herself to both her family and her work. She was employed at Bellsouth Telephone Company and later served as an English teacher and a coach of volleyball, basketball, and cheerleading at Hammond Hills Baptist School. She also worked as an Accounting Specialist at Arrow Business Products/Mills Morris and as a bookkeeper for Rite-Way Pool Services and Wieland Pools, retiring in December 2012.
Margerite was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 58 years, David L. Wieland, Sr.; her mother, Bessie J. Johnson; her father, Isaiah Johnson; her sister, Frances J. Dougherty; and her brothers, Jessie Johnson, Jerry Johnson, Hoyt Johnson, and C.A. Johnson.
She will be lovingly remembered by her children: David L. Wieland, Jr. (Linda), Jeffrey S. Wieland (Paula), Mark H. Wieland, Jessica D. Ramey (Ray), Chadwick S. Wieland (Shannon), and Meredith L. Wieland. She also leaves behind 17 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
A cancer survivor since 2001, Margerite demonstrated strength, resilience, and unwavering faith throughout her life. She found great joy in yard work, fishing, cross word & jigsaw puzzles, and especially in spending time with her children and grandchildren. She took great pride in helping organize her Memphis Tech class reunion as well as her late husband's Humes High class reunion. She was a devoted Christian who loved the Lord and lived by her faith daily, drawing strength and comfort from her relationship with Him.
Margerite's legacy of love, faith, strength, and devotion to family will live on in the hearts of all who knew and cherished her.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., with the funeral service immediately following from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society or the Lewy Body Dementia Association.
