Nashville - Margie McCrae Etoch Ross of Nashville, died April 1, 2013 at her residence after a brief illness. Mrs. Ross was born on April 5, 1921 in Helena, Arkansas, to Fred and Ruth Chism Etoch. She graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in Helena in 1939 and was briefly employed by the Phillips County, Arkansas, health department. She met William Thomas ("Bill") Ross, her husband of fifty-five years, while in Helena and they were married there on June 15, 1941. They resided for a number of years in Clarksdale and Jackson, Mississippi, before moving to Memphis in 1952. She was a devout lifelong Catholic and a communicant of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Memphis for nearly fifty years. During the nineteen sixties and seventies she and Bill were also both very active in local Democratic Party politics in Memphis, as well as in the civil rights movement. Margie was an excellent cook and homemaker and devoted mother to three children, who survive her: William Thomas Ross III (Anniece Tarver), Ruth Susanne Ross (Joyce Peacock) and Joseph Frederick Ross. She is also survived by her sisters Mrs. Betty Fuel and Mrs. Freda St. Columbia; two grandsons, David Michael Ross and William Fredric Ross; many nieces and nephews and her adopted Peacock family, Jessica Peacock Wilmoth, Kathryn Peacock McKnight and their children. Funeral services are at St. Ann's Episcopal Church, 419 Woodland Avenue, Nashville TN at 1 p.m. Thursday with visitation/reception following the service. Burial is on Friday at Forest Hills East Cemetery in Memphis at 1 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Our Kids Center in Nashville or to the charity of your choice .
