Obituary

Marjorie Ann Nance Rhodes, loving wife and mother of three, passed away peacefully in the early hours of January 19, 2019. She was 87.

Ann was born on August 10, 1931 in Memphis, Tennessee, to Leatha Jane Turner and Marion Reuben Nance.

In the twilight of World War II, Ann met her husband of 70 years, Robert Sanford Rhodes, a skinny sailor with a motorcycle who would pick her up from Memphis Tech High School.

Ann loved playing the piano and taught lessons for a decade. She also worked as a tax auditor for the IRS. In her years on this earth, Ann sewed countless items of clothing, prepared innumerable holiday meals, traveled the continent in an Airstream trailer with Bob, and laughed as often as she could. She loved and was loved.

Ann was preceded in death by her parents and one grandson, Ian Watts. She is survived by her husband and three children, Glinda Ann, Sandra Leigh (Mary Jane Adams), and Robert Sanford Jr,"Sandy" (Diane), four grandchildren, Rachel Berry, Katie Rhodes Smith, Robert Sanford III "Bo", and Micaela Watts, along with five great grandchildren.

Ann's funeral will be held in the chapel of Forest Hill East Funeral Home on Saturday, January 26, at 2:00 p.m. with no graveside service.

Flowers can be sent to the Forest Hill Funeral Home on Whitten Rd.
