Martha Lumpkin Armstrong, 96, went to meet her Lord on Sunday, February 27.  She graduated from Whiteville High School and then moved to Memphis to take secretarial training.  She soon began working for MLG&W, remaining there until her retirement.  After retirement she was active with REA.

She was an avid crafter making and sometimes selling her creative endeavors.  She loved planting flowers, watching the hummingbirds who visited her feeders, and traveling.

Martha was a former member of Speedway Baptist and Broadmoor Baptist, and most recently Waypoint Baptist.

She is preceded in death by husband, Charlie, her brothers, J. Oscar and Rhea Lumpkin and niece, Cindy Lumpkin.  Martha is survived by niece Judy (Mike) Williams of Frisco, TX and nephews, Jim (Sheron) Lumpkin of Bakersfield, CA, and Tom (Frances) of Bartlett, TN, John (Eileen) Lumpkin of Richardson, TX, and Charles (Vicki) of Suffolk, VA and step-granddaughter, Toby Weaver of Memphis TN.

The family appreciates the care of the doctors and nurses at Methodist North Hospital.

Visitation will be at Forest Hill Funeral Home, 2440 Whitten Rd., Memphis, TN on March 2, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm with funeral service to follow at 2:00 pm.
