MARTHA JO MARKEY BALTZ, 83, of Memphis, died peacefully Thursday, January 12, 2012 at her home. She was born in Indianapolis, IN on June 28, 1928 to Julia M. Bateman. She was lovingly adopted as a baby by Judge Joseph T. and Demia D. Markey. She married Michael Angelo Baltz of Pocahontas, AR in 1958. He preceded her in death in 2006. Together they raised eight children. Their legacy also includes nine grandsons. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandma, sister, aunt, and friend who will be missed by so many. Her quiet and sweet spirit will endure in the thoughts and hearts of everyone that knew her. Mrs. Baltz was a member of St. Therese, Little Flower Catholic Church for almost 50 years. She is survived by her children,
Cindy King (Rich) of Bartlett, TN, Michael J. Baltz (Raynelle) of Southaven, MS, Patrice Mills and Eugene Baltz of Memphis, Steve Baltz of Los Angeles, CA, Chris Baltz, Vickie Baltz, and Raymond Baltz also of Memphis. She also leaves her nine grandsons that she lovingly doted on: Shane, Chase, Jacob, Tyler, Paul, Austin, Brett, Justin, and Trey. She also leaves her two brothers, Howard and Forrest Adams of Indiana. She was preceded in death by a brother, John Markey. She also leaves three sisters-in-law, Mary Ernestine Maguire, Kay Brannon and Esther Baltz, and brothers-in-law, Tony Baltz and John Brannon; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m., Monday, January 16 at St. Therese, Little Flower Catholic Church, with a funeral Mass following. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery East. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Therese Catholic Church.
