IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Martha L
Scallions
February 24, 1950 – December 29, 2025
Martha Landrum Scallions went to be with the Lord and Savior on December 29, 2025 at the age of 75. Martha is survived by her husband of 55 years, Danny Scallions, of Brighton, TN, her son Kevin Scallions of Brighton, TN, and her sister Anita Surratt of Germantown, TN. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and even great-great nieces and nephews. Martha is preceded in death by her parents Leon and Louise Landrum, sisters Linda Thompson and Betty Noe (Kenneth), brother Gary Landrum, and brother-in-law Kenneth Noe.
Born Martha Arlene Landrum on February 24, 1950 in Memphis, Tennessee, she was the youngest of five children to parents Leon and Louise Landrum. She attended Tech High School in Memphis and graduated in 1968. She met her husband, Danny, in 1970 and they married later that year on December 5. Martha and Danny welcomed their beloved son, Kevin, in August of 1977. Martha worked in the business office at the University Club of Memphis until she retired. She resided in Brighton, TN with her family for 25 years and was a well-loved member of Salem Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church in Tipton County, TN for 15 years.
Martha loved spending time with her family and enjoyed taking family vacations, including to the Grand Canyon and Las Vegas. She also enjoyed fishing and going out with her husband and son on their pontoon boat. In addition to traveling and fishing, Martha enjoyed arts and crafts, particularly crocheting and making jewelry such as bracelets. She used her crochet skills to make beautiful baby blankets to give to others. She loved to get her hair and nails done and always wore pretty earrings and rings everywhere she went.
A talented baker, Martha baked sausage bread around the holidays to share with family. During Christmastime years ago, she would make chocolate fudge with her sisters and delicious Divinity candy with some of her great nieces.
Martha was also very well educated on the family's genealogy and history. She wanted to learn as much as she could about her ancestors and was fascinated by the story of how her grandfather immigrated to Ellis Island from Germany. She kept in touch with many of her family members who lived all over the U.S.
Most importantly, Martha, our family's "Boss," was the most loving, generous, kind, sweet-natured woman. She loved everyone around her and was a devoted wife, mother, sister, friend, aunt, great aunt, and great-great aunt. She was a blessing to all who knew her and she will be dearly missed.
Donations can be made in Martha's memory to the Three Star Volunteer Fire Department, which serves residents of the Tipton County, TN area. Donations can be sent by check to 2050 Sadler School Road, Brighton, TN 38011.
