Martha Eugenia Tallant Douglas (Nana) passed away quietly with family members and friends present in the comfort of her home in Bartlett, TN on Friday, May 28, 2021. She was 85 years old. She was a loved and adored mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was a wonderful Christian woman, who set the example for her family on how to live and treat others.
Martha was born November 23, 1935, in Randolph, MS. She attended Randolph High School, graduating as Salutatorian in 1953. She was a former member of Leaclair Baptist Church and a current member of Ellendale Baptist. She served as a school crossing guard at Berclair Elementary School from 1964 until she retired. Martha was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Harold Quay Douglas, her mother, Cornez T. Jordan, and her father, John Wallace Tallant. She is survived by her son, Danny (Marty) Douglas, daughter, Denise Lumley; grandchildren – Julie (Todd) Glover, Jonathan Douglas, Nicole (Chad) Byars, Cole (Kerri) Lumley and Cameron Lumley; and great grandchildren – Aidan, Adalynn, Alyssa Byars and Camille Lumley, a new addition in September; and her sister – Virginia Ann Blackwelder of Pontotoc, MS. Visitation will be held on June 4, 2021, at Forest Hill East Chapel in Bartlett, TN from 5:00 to 8:00pm. Services will be June 5, 2021, at 12:00pm at Forest Hill Chapel with burial in the adjacent cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be sent to the American Cancer Society.
