Martha Lynn White Pitts, born to Bruce and Hester White August 12, 1928 in Covington, Tennessee. There she attended Garland Elementary and graduated from Byars Hall High School. She moved to Memphis, Tennessee after graduation where she met Kenneth Pitts in 1947 while employed at Union Planters Bank. They married May 21, 1948 in Washington, D.C. and returned to Memphis in 1949. She worked several jobs and retired in 1990 after 17 years of employment with the Memphis Area Teachers'' Credit Union.

Church was a very integral part of her life. She served at Wesley Evangelical Methodist Church for many years playing the piano, organ, singing in the choir, Sunday School teacher, and church camp counselor. She later joined Central Church and did various volunteer jobs through their ministry. After she moved to Nashville in 2011, she attended First Nazarene Church and was an active member of the Victory Sunday School class.

She is survived by her son, Greg (wife Ginny); daughter, Gayle; two grandsons, John Ward (wife Jamie Lynne), Joshua Ward; and one great-grandson, Reed Ward; two nieces, Debra Henderson Foote and Amy Henderson Montgomery and their families.

Her life was simple, but full.she loved her God, her family and friends. She will be missed by all.

Visitation will be 3:00 p.m. until service begins at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at Forest Hill Funeral Home East on Whitten Road with interment following. The family request all memorials be sent to the First Nazarene Church, 510 Woodland St., Nashville, TN 37206.
