Mary Juanita "Nita" Simpson, 84, formerly of Memphis, passed away in Little Rock on Thursday, February 12. She was born on October 15, 1930 in Crockett County, TN, to Robert T. and Nynn Almira Brasfield. She later married William A. Simpson and celebrated 40 years of marriage before he preceded her in death in 1991. She was also preceded in death by a son, Robert Arthur Simpson and several family members. She is survived by her children, William A. Simpson, Jr. of Memphis and Susan E. Holmes and husband, Ken of Little Rock; a brother, Robert Taylor Brasfield; and two sisters, Ruth Helen Shores and Myra Grace Wright and husband, Ray, all of Memphis. She was a perfect example of true unconditional love. She was lovingly known as "Mamaw" to her four grandchildren and one great grandchild. We will celebrate her life on Thursday, February 19 with visitation at 11:30 a.m. until service begins at 12:30 p.m. at Forest Hill East Funeral Home. Interment will be at 2 p.m. at National Veterans Cemetery. Nita was a caring woman who loved helping others, so the family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to SmileTrain.org in her memory.
