Mary Elizabeth Carpenter, 1936 - 2017
Mary Elizabeth Carpenter, 80, went to be with the Lord on August 26, 2017 at Methodist Hospice in Memphis, TN. Mary was a member of Germantown United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir; a member of United Methodist Women; and volunteered in the Shelby County School system and Cordova Community Center.
Mary was the daughter of Elvis and Beulah Sammons Abbott. She married Douglas Carpenter on July 6, 1957 in Wilson, AR. Mary was a wonderful mother to her four sons, Douglas Carpenter, Jr., Ronald Carpenter, Timothy Carpenter and Jason Carpenter; a devoted sister to her brothers, James Abbott and Carroll Abbott, and a sister, Viola Wesson; and was devoted to her eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation for Mary will be held from 6:00 - 8:00 PM on Friday, September 1, 2017 at Forest Hill Funeral Home, East Chapel, 2440 Whitten Road, Memphis, TN, 38133. A celebration of her life will be held at 10:30 Saturday, September 2, 2017 at Germantown United Methodist Church.
All funeral arrangements are entrusted for Forest Hill Funeral Home, East Chapel.
