IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mary Geneva
Frisbie
November 10, 1929 – November 9, 2025
Mary Geneva "Ginny" Frisbie, age 95, of Germantown, Tennessee, went home to be with the Lord on November 9, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on November 10, 1929, in Ripley, Tennessee, Ginny was the daughter of the late Emmet and Ona Mae White. She graduated from Halls High School and attended Memphis Business College.
Throughout her life, Ginny worked as a secretary at Firestone Tire and Rubber Company, a medical secretary at Union Hospital in Lynn, Massachusetts, and later as the financial secretary at Westhaven School, where she faithfully served from 1966 until her retirement in 1990.
A devoted member of Germantown Baptist Church since 1984, Ginny lived her faith every day through service, kindness, and love. She previously taught Sunday School and served as Department Training Union Director at Graceland Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, a lifetime PTA member, and an active member of the Memphis Public School Secretaries Association.
Ginny was a woman of many accomplishments — Beauty Queen of Memphis Business College in 1950, past president of both the Westhaven School PTA and the Order of DeMolay District Mothers Club, and a Tennessee State DeMolay Mothers Club Ping Pong Champion in the mid-1970s. She was honored as Secretary of the Year for Memphis Public Schools in 1989–1990.
But more than her titles or awards, Ginny will be remembered for her warmth, humor, and the way she cared for everyone she met. She loved cooking big Southern meals, fishing any chance she got, and tending to her garden. Her kitchen was always filled with the smell of something delicious and the sound of laughter.
She is survived by her sons, Norman Frisbie (Laura) and Billy Frisbie (Joannie); her sisters, Dorothy Hundley (Donald) and Faye Braden (the late Gene Braden); her grandchildren, Kevin Frisbie (Erika), Beth Frisbie, Tonya Erwin (William), Liza Frisbie, Chad Frisbie (Katie), and Russell Frisbie (Carla); six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Emmet and Ona Mae White; her husbands, Russell Frisbie and Leo Pope; and her siblings, Marie Furr, E.M. White, Robert White, Joe White, and Carol Scarberry.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 14, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Germantown Baptist Church, 9450 Poplar Avenue, Germantown, Tennessee, followed by a Celebration of Life service at 11:00 a.m.
A fellowship luncheon will be held at the church immediately following the service at 12:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Gideons International to support the distribution of God's Word. Donations may be made online at gideons.org or by mail to P.O. Box 382361, Germantown, TN 38183.
Ginny's faith, kindness, and joyful spirit will continue to shine through the generations who loved her. She lived a full and faithful life — one that reflected her Savior's love in every smile, every meal, and every helping hand.
"Well done, good and faithful servant." – Matthew 25:23
