Mary Jo Garey passed away June 3, 2015 in Hot Springs Village, Arkansas. She was born in Memphis to the late Muriel B. and Earl Miles. Mary Jo retired from Baptist Memorial Hospital after 35 years of service. She was predeceased by her son Michael Lee Garey, brothers James and Stanley Miles and a great granddaughter Megan. She is survived by her children, John Garey (Anita) of Forest, Ms, Jerry Garey (Patty) of Weir, Ms. Brenda Holloway (Richard) of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas, Jackie Hitt (Bobby) of Hot Springs, Arkansas, Cathy Pannell of Memphis. Mary Jo had 9 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

Mary Jo Garey was a beacon of light and a source of strength in the lives of her family, patients, and coworkers at Baptist Hospital in downtown Memphis. She dedicated her entire life into building others up and creating a safe and loving place for them. Though she has left us physically, the unbreakable threads of compassion, perseverance and goodness she wove into the hearts of her siblings, children, grand children and great grand children will carry them through and connect them to each other, and to her, always.

A funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Monday June 8 and family will receive friends prior to service beginning at 1 pm all at Forest Hill Funeral Home on Whitten Road. In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to St Jude Children's Research Hospital.
