On February 18, 1926, our angel, Mary Frances Ellison was born in Nashville, Tennessee. Mary went joyfully to be with our Lord on Wednesday, January 4, 2017. She was 90 years young! Her greatest joy was being with her children and her church family and friends. Mary was most proud of her accomplishments in becoming a certified nursing assistant and her employment at Baptist Memorial Hospital. She served many years as an elder at Frayser Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Mary was a member of Order Eastern Star and the Order of Amaranth. She served as the Grand Royal Matron of Tennessee Amaranth in 1988-1989 and was a member of the White Shrine of Jerusalem in Nashville, Tennessee. Mary was one of seven children born to Willie Velma Henderson and Clyde Elmer Griffin. She was preceded in death by her parents and all of her brothers and sisters, Dorothy Poole Gibson, Clyde Griffin, Annie May Martin, Edward "Cotton" Griffin, Alice Marie White and Glenn Howard Griffin. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sidney Asbury Ellison and her daughter in law Linda Ellison.Mary''s most sad reflections were those of the loss of her seven out of eleven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by Carl, Tamika, and Deairra Hall, Jamie Ellison and Robert Ellison III, Todd Fritz, and Jeffrey Siler. Leaving behind to cherish memories are her children Norma Jean Klein and husband, Ron Klein, Robert Leon Ellison Jr, Beverly "Gertrude" Ellison, Jimmy Dale Ellison and wife Robin, and Cathie Sue Hall, and her sister-in-law Maki Griffin. Last but not least, her favorite, adopted in love, Judd and Joan Stafford, Patty Stidman and Lance and Nathan.Visitation will be 12:30 p.m. until service begins at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at Forest Hill Funeral Home & Memorial Park, East. The interment will be private in Forest Hill East Cemetery.
