Mrs. Mary Ethel (Grice) Huery was born on December 21, 1931 to the late Mr. and Mrs. William (Leona) Grice, loving Christian parents. She was affectionately called "Snooky".

Mary was a shy, soft-spoken, kind and gentle soul. She was the third sibling of five (4 sisters, 1 brother). She attended Lester Elementary School and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School. She also pursued a two-year Nursing Program to help others!

As a teenager, Mary was an active member of Early Grove Baptist Church, participating in the Junior Choir, BYPU, Sunday School and later with the Senior Choir. Mary and her siblings always joined their parents in performing their Christian duties to the congregation and their community. Mary married the late Willie Lee Huery.

Mary did not "send" her children to church as some do but she "walked" them as a family, engaging them in the church. Afflictions of life took its toll on Mary at 12:40 AM, January 28, 2015. Mary generous and caring spirit for others will always be cherished and remembered by those who knew her and loved her! Morning her passing, she leaves her second born, Pat Smith; third born, Shirley (Robert) Mhoon; fourth born, Carolyn Houston; fifth born, Joyce (Sherlock)Watson; sixth born, Sharon Huery; seventh born, Janice (Ricky) Williams; eighth born, Deborah (Jerome) Watkins; ninth born, Regina Huery, and tenth born, Willie Lee Huery, Jr.; two sisters, Geraldine Wallace, Okland, CA; Willie Jean "Pee Wee" Grice, Chicago, IL, and one brother, William Grice, Jr. of Memphis, TN; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm Saturday, October 3 at Forest Hill Funeral Home Midtown with service at 12 pm. Burial will follow be in Forest Hill Midtown Cemetery.
