Obituary

Mary Helen Hutchins, 76, passed away on August 02,2024. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend. Helen will be missed by all who knew her.

Mary Helen Hutchins was born on April 11, 1948, in Isola and grew up in Belzoni, Mississippi. She graduated from Belzoni High School in 1966 and shortly after married the love her life, Thomas E. Hutchins from Greenville, Mississippi in 1968.

In 1970, they moved to Memphis, Tennessee where Helen had a successful career at National Bank of Commerce for 29 years, she retired in 1999. Throughout her career, she was known for her hard work, dedication and great friendships.

But more than anything, Helen was a friend to everyone and had a great sense of humor. She was always available and eager to help anyone in need. Helen loved spending time with her family, friends, sharing old banking stories with people, playing cards and showing her grandkids how to cook. Helen never met a stranger, she would always share her greatest recipes and invite everyone to her church.

Helen was an active and longtime member of Hope Baptist Church in Olive Branch, MS which was formerly Hickory Ridge Baptist Church in Memphis, TN. She volunteered and served on several different committees throughout the years. One thing is for certain, Helen loved Jesus and attending Hope Baptist Church to hear her pastor Burr Lovett preach.

Mary Helen Hutchins is survived by her husband, Thomas E. Hutchins, her son Mike Hutchins his wife Regina, her other son Jason Hutchins and his wife Lisa, her eight grandchildren are Peter, Rebekah, Naomi, Hannah, Madelyn, Abigail, Chloe and Natalie, her two great grandchildren River and Joshua, her two sisters Dorothy (James) George of Memphis, TN and Elosie Manning of Rolling Fork, MS.

She is proceeded in death by her parents Bennie and Fannie Hales, brothers James Hales, Richard Hales, David Hales, Terrell Hales, sisters Wilda McDaniel, Bertie Nelson, daughter Connie Hutchins, grandson Matthew Hutchins.

The Hutchins family would like to thank Dr. Vola, Dr. Patel, Ashley Green and all the other nurses at Olive Branch Methodist Hospital. Their professionalism and compassion will forever be appreciated by us all.

Funeral Services for Mary Helen Hutchins will be held for family and friends on Saturday, August 10, 2024 at Hope Baptist Church (6800 Center Hill Rd, Olive Branch, MS 38654). Visitation will be from 10-11am on August 10, 2024 at Hope Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Hope Baptist Church in her name.
