A lifelong Memphian, Mary Jo or "Jo" is predeceased by her parents, Robert James Ferguson and Mary Elizabeth Martin Ferguson, and her loving husband of 58 years, Joseph MacDaniel "Mack" Perry. Jo is survived by her children, Michael Perry (Donna), David Perry (Kim) and Lori Letzring (Todd), along with her eight grandchildren and four step grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Linda Marie Ferguson Clements, brother-in-law Buddy Clements and two nephews and a niece.
Jo was a graduate of Whitehaven High School, class of 1957. She married the love of her life after months of writing to the handsome serviceman in Hawaii. As soon as Mack returned to Memphis, he proposed to Jo and they married at Whitehaven Baptist Church. A dedicated mother, she nurtured each of her children and readied them for school before entering the workforce. Although she was very modest, Jo was a very talented artist, leader and teacher who reached the top of her profession in insurance when women in leadership were still a rarity. She went back to college when her children were grown and for many years, Jo led women's bible studies and even served as the church bookkeeper at First Baptist Eudora. She loved the cabin in Mississippi, fishing, studying the Bible and helping anyone who needed a hand or a word of encouragement.
Jo loved family and placed the highest priority on their wellbeing. She always had an ear to listen to a grandchild's story and relished holidays and family get togethers. Jo had a heart for others and faithfully prayed for them and their needs. She enjoyed time with friends and travel.
