Obituary

Mary Elizabeth Easley Kinard, 82 of Hernando MS, went home to see Jesus, Thursday, December 21, 2017. She was born in Parkin, AR February 1st, 1935 to Wade Earnest Easley, Sr. and Mary Opal Griffin Easley.

Mary is preceded in death by her husband Roy H. Kinard, her daughter, Sheila Kinard Davis, her son, Jimmy Ray Kinard, 6 brothers, and 1 sister.

She is survived by one daughter, Teresa Kinard Hamlet (Tim), one granddaughter, Cassidy Hamlet Baulo (Tim) and one great-grandson, Deacon Cruz Baulo, all of Hernando, MS, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Mary grew up in Houlka, MS, a small community in Chickasaw County where the family were farmers. She loved playing basketball, it has been said that she was the hardest player to guard because of her infamous left hook shot. Many of her teammates have remained friends all these years. They talked frequently and had regular get-togethers. They were the Houlka Wildcats and have tee shirts to prove it.

She married Roy Kinard in December 1954 and moved to Memphis. She was Assistant City Manager for Hertz rent-a-car for many years and Roy retired from Delta Air Lines. Her favorite job came after her retirement where she worked for North Mississippi Mental Retardation Center in Hernando group home. Jimmy, the sunshine of our home, was Down Syndrome, so she had a love and affection for anyone with special needs.

Many have said that she had one of the most beautiful yards in Hernando for many years. It has been said of her, "that she could stick a broomstick in the ground and it would grow." If her neighbors didn''t see her in her yard, they would come to check on her. Her yard was her sanctuary.

Her funeral will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 27 at Forest Hill Funeral Home, 2545 E. Holmes Road, Memphis TN, 901-346-3250, with Bro. Jimmy Holcomb officiating. Visitation is from 9:00 a.m. until the service time. There will be a private burial for the family in the Hernando, MS Cemetery.

In Lieu of flowers the family asked that memorials be made to St. Jude Children''s Hospital in memory of her daughter, Sheila Kinard Davis.
