Mary Jane Laney Cannon of Horn Lake, MS passed away on October 3, 2025. Jane was born on July 17, 1937, in Amory, Mississippi.

Jane graduated from Amory High School where she was a basketball player. She married Cotton Laney, moved to Southaven, MS and started a family. She worked at RCA before becoming a medical transcriber at Baptist Memorial Hospital. She loved her children and church family. She was always cooking and enjoyed watching westerns, completing word puzzle and her dog Sally.

She is survived by her children: Carla Laney, Robert Laney and Dennis Laney (Katherine); 8 grandchildren: Erik Laney (Elizabeth), Evan Laney (Hailey), Kelsey Laney, Carley Laney, Aaron Caleb Laney (Caitlin), Will Laney, Liza Laney and Sam Laney; and 6 great grand kids, Owen, Ryan, Joseph, Lukas, Mary Ann, Brody. She also leaves behind two loving siblings, Wesley Fears (Becky) and Darla Hill.

Jane is preceded in death by her parents Curtis and Evelyn Fears and her brother Will (Brenda) Fears. Arthur (Cotton) Laney her first husband and Jerrell Cannon her second husband.

We will have a visitation and funeral service on October 9th at Calvary Baptist Church in Horn Lake, MS. Visitation will be from 10am-11am with the service to be held at 11am. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Muscular Dystrophy Association.
