Mary Estelle Maxey, 81, died Wednesday after a long illness. She was a loving mother and grandmother who was active in her Sunday School class at Gracewood Baptist Church in Southaven. A native of Pontotoc County, MS, Estelle had lived since 1953 in Memphis, where she met her husband of 57 years, Roy Alvis Maxey, on a blind date. They married on New Year's Eve, 1955, in Memphis. In addition to her husband, she leaves a son, Ron Maxey; daughter-in-law, Gabrielle Maxey; granddaughter, Mallory Maxey; and grandson, Michael Maxey, all of Germantown; and a sister, Opal Flanagan of Oakland, TN. She also will be missed by five nieces and nephews, along with other relatives and friends. Visitation will be 1-2 p.m. Friday at Forest Hill Funeral Home East followed by services at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Forest Hill East Cemetery.
