Obituary

Mary Ben Miller Harris, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away October 27,2024, surrounded by her family after a life long illness. Born in Belmont, Mississippi to Warren B. Miller and Fannie L. Moore Miller was a vibrant spirit who touched the lives of all who knew her.

Services to honor Mrs. Harris' life will be Friday, November 1, 2024 at 1:00, with a visitation from 12:00 - 1:00 pm  prior, all at Forest Hill Funeral Home East, (2440 Whitten Road, Memphis, TN). Burial to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery (5668 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, TN). Brother Derek Williams and Brother Stan Phipps to officiate.

In 1952, she married the love her life, Sydney Kimbrough Harris, after delightful blind date. Together, they raised four sons and a daughter, creating a home filled with love, laughter, and creativity. As a homemaker, Mary was known for her impeccable style and remarkable talent in arts and crafts. Her flair for sewing and unique fashion designs made her the envy of many, and she often crafted beautiful jewelry that reflected her artistic spirit. Mary's faith was an essential part of her life. Baptized at the age of thirteen, she was aa devoted member of the Church of Christ, where she sang with a joyful heart and lived her life in the spirit of her beliefs. Her musical talent led her to opportunities that few experience, including recording sessions with renowned producer Chips Moman.

An enthusiastic traveler, Mary explored over ten states with Syd, making lasting memories along the way. Her hobbies included painting, gardening, birdwatching, and reading her Bible daily, activities that reflected her love for life and beauty in all forms. She had a deep appreciation for big band m and pop songs of the sixties, often sharing there joyful melodies with her grandchildren, who adored her.

Mary's kindness, humor, and genuine interest in others make her cherished friend and family member. She was know for her humility, grace, and unwavering faith in Christ, embodying the qualities of a true gentle spirit. Her legacy will live on through her family and the countless lives she touched wither her warmth and love.

Mary Ben Miller Harris leaves behind her children, Michael Steven "Steve"  Harris (Rhonda Jobe Harris), Constance "Connie" Diane Harris, David Ben Harris (Carol Harris), Mark Warren Harris (Debby Harris) and Timothy "Tim" Kevin Harris, All of Memphis, TN; her two sister-in-laws, Nancy Kate McCann and Donna Harkins; and her grandchildren, Stephanie Harris, Daniel Harris (Hannah), Mary Louise "Lucy" Harris, and Sydney Harris, all of Memphis, to cherish her memory.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Sydney Kimbrough Harris, her three sisters, Christine Clay, Jane Lattan, and Marilyn Pharr, and her her bother-in-law, James "Jim" Edward Harris, Jr.

Mary will be deeply missed, but her memory will forever be a guiding light to those who loved her.
