IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mary Alice
Regel
August 8, 1936 – October 14, 2024
Our precious mother, Mary Alice Beal Regel, passed from this life on the 14th of October, 2024 in Germantown at the age of 88.
We rejoice that she is with her Lord and Savior who she loved and served with her whole heart. She was saved as a young girl and her greatest legacy is the great faith she lived and passed on to her children and grandchildren. The comfort we cling to most is that she will no longer suffer and we will be overjoyed to see her again in Heaven.
Our parents were married for 68 years. They experienced so much life together and it will be painfully hard for our Dad to continue without her. Please pray for him. They shared a passion for travel and camped often with friends and family, beginning with tents and working up to an RV. They traversed all 50 states and several European countries, enjoying every moment.
Our mom was a wonderful example of being the hands and feet of Jesus and this was exemplified when she and Clyde became founding members of their church, Covenant Baptist. Mom was a wonderful cook and shared that skill with countless families who were suffering with illness or death. Whether or not you were blood related, she would make sure you were taken care of. She also wrote hundreds of cards to church members, friends and family sharing words of encouragement or simply a "Happy Birthday".
Mom was a lover of gospel music, with the Gaithers being a favorite. She sang in the church choir and played her favorite hymns on the piano. When the grandkids were growing up, Christmas always included time around the piano - complete with lyric sheets so we had to sing whether we wanted to or not!
Another love was reading books. Her love and purpose in life was to teach young children to read and love the adventure of books. She earned a Bachelors in Library Science from Memphis State leading to a fulfilling career as an elementary school librarian. She was an avid reader and has passed on that passion to her children, grandchildren and now great-grandchildren.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents, Dancy and Carl Beal. She is survived by her husband, Clyde Regel, her daughter Brenda Carter (Frank) of Collierville, her daughter Karen Ingram (Mike) of Lakeland, her grandchildren Nathan Ingram (Catherine) of Lakeland, Grace White (Drew) of Columbus, Ohio, and Clayton Carter (Anne) of Cordova. Her great-grandchildren are Archer and Hazel Ingram.
A graveside service will be held at Forest Hill Cemetery on Whitten at 1:30pm on Thursday. October 17th, 2024. The family will be available 30 minutes prior to the service for visitation.
Memorials can be sent to Samaritan's Purse.
