IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mary Alice
Summers
March 3, 1946 – January 27, 2024
Mary Alice (Phillips) Summers entered into heaven January 27, 2024, surrounded by her family. Born March 3, 1946 in Munford, TN, Mary was the daughter of Grady and Mary(Armstrong) Phillips. Mary was a devoted wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Mary and Raymond enjoyed a full and loving marriage for nearly 37 beautiful years. Her siblings include Floyd Phillips (dec.), Judy Blackwood (dec.), Shirley (Mack) Adkison, and Connie Lee. She also leaves behind four beloved children, Rhonda (David) Hurd, Kimberly (Alan) Kelley, Mark Campbell, and Trey (Rachel) Summers. In addition to her four siblings and four children, Mary was blessed with eight grand kids and nine great grand kids that she spent much of her time doting on and enjoying.
Mary had a knack for making things beautiful. She was well known for her love of gardening and spent many afternoons in the sun, with her hands in the dirt, planting and tending flowers. If she wasn't elbows deep in roses, her other favorite pastime was designing her home with magazine worthy taste and flair. She often welcomed missionaries and their families into her home for a much-needed place of respite and relaxation. Her heart was rooted in serving others, so every flower she planted, meal she cooked or room she decorated was made to create a beautiful space where her guests felt welcomed and appreciated.
Mary had a gentle, reserved spirit and was a diligent student of The Bible. She filled dozens of notebooks with her thoughts and observations on God's Word. Mary was blessed to have a church family that loved her as their own. She and Raymond spent many Friday nights playing games with their church group. There wasn't a week that passed without a mention of or interaction with the Fellowship Baptist Bartlett family. Mary leaves behind a legacy of beauty, family, and love. Each person who had the privilege of knowing her was blessed because of it.
