Mary Kathryn Grace Waddell, 94, of Memphis, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on August 8, 2026, after a brief time in hospice care. Kathryn fought the good fight, finished her course, and kept the faith. After 94 years of a life well lived and a faith held steadfastly, one can truly say, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant.”

Kathryn was born on October 21, 1931, in Charleston, Mississippi, to Frelon and Ella Mae Grace. She later moved to Memphis, Tennessee, where she graduated from Treadwell High School.

In 1950, Kathryn married the love of her life, Raymond Lee Waddell. Together, they shared 56 wonderful years of marriage and built a life centered around faith, family, and love.

Kathryn had six siblings. She was the second child and oldest daughter in her family. From an early age, she had a kind and caring heart and devoted herself to helping care for her younger siblings, who affectionately called her “Big Sissy.” That same loving and generous spirit remained with her throughout her life.

Few things brought Kathryn more joy than her family. She especially treasured her six grandchildren, whom she loved beyond measure. She was always sewing, smocking, crafting, and creating special things for them, leaving behind countless handmade reminders of her love. Her family was truly one of the greatest joys of her life.

Kathryn was a lifelong member of First Assembly of God in Memphis. Her faith in God was at the center of her life, and she loved and served Him faithfully throughout her many years. Her devotion to her faith and family leaves a lasting legacy for the generations who follow her.

Kathryn is survived by her children, Stanley Waddell (Joella Chaney) and Sandra Pittman (Gary); her six beloved grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; her brothers, Bobby Grace and James Grace; and many cherished nieces and nephews.

In keeping with Kathryn’s wishes, a private memorial service for her family will be held on August 29, 2026.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to First Assembly Christian School in Cordova, Tennessee.

Kathryn’s 94 years were filled with faith, family, service, and love. She will be deeply missed, but the love she gave so freely and the faith she lived so faithfully will continue through the lives of those she leaves behind.
