Mary Ann
Wilcox
October 30, 1938 – December 4, 2022
Mary Ann Wilcox was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and friend during her wonderful 84 years of life. She passed away peacefully at her home in Memphis, TN in the early hours of December 4th, 2022. Mary Ann was born on October 30, 1938, in Memphis to Doyle E. Hatch and Beala Ann Hatch. She attended Humes High School. Soon after, she was married to her childhood sweetheart, Roy Farrow Wilcox in 1956. Together, they had five children and built a beautiful life. As a member of Colonial Baptist Church for over 61 years, Mary Ann faithfully served her congregation and community. She worked in the Colonial Baptist's Parent's Day Out Program for 15 years and the Lord used her nurturing spirit to love and care for little ones. Her greatest joy was her family. Mary Ann attended nearly every graduation, band concert, dance recital, and sports event her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren had. She was famous among her family for her peanut butter cake and the Christmas socks she would give everyone each year. Most of all, she was famous for her love and the genuine delight she had when a family member walked into the room. She was known for her welcoming smile, her listening ear, and making everyone feel right at home. In fact, many who knew her felt as though she was their own mother or grandmother. Mary Ann was also known for her love of John Wayne Westerns, collecting cardinals, the color purple, and piping hot coffee. Mary Ann is survived by her children, Roy "Rusty" Farrow Wilcox Jr. of Memphis, TN, Connie Wilcox Morris (Keith) of Collierville, TN and Ronny David Wilcox of Memphis, TN, her sister Virginia Rogers (Jim) of Hernando, MS, her ten beloved grandchildren, and her precious thirteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Farrow Wilcox (1998), of whom she was married to for forty-two years, her daughter, Vickie Wilcox Tutor (2010), and her son, James Allen Wilcox (2019). Her celebration of life will be held December 8th at Colonial Baptist Church. Visitation will be held from 10am-11am, with the funeral at 11am. Graveside service will be held at Forest Hill Funeral Home Whitten following the funeral. Flowers or Donations may be sent to Colonial Baptist Church at 1503 Colonial Road, Memphis, TN 38117 or a donation to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation would be deeply appreciated.
