Mattie Sorell Matthews, of Piperton, TN, went to be with the Lord on April 27, 2018 after a long illness.  She was surrounded by her loving family when she went to the arms of Jesus.  She was born on the 10 ^th of February in Lutts, TN, to the late Henry Marshall and Addie Pigg Webb, now deceased.  She was the Seamstress Supervisor for Susan Fashions for many years.  She also worked at United Color Lab before her retirement.  She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Collierville, TN, where her love of gospel music called her to be a member of the Senior Choir.  She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 14 years, Clyde Matthews, of Piperton, TN; a brother, Ernest Webb; two sisters, Edith Plunk, and Mary Tanner; and many loving nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Marshall and Addie Pigg Webb; her husband, Hal B. Sorell; four brothers, Jeff Webb, Hughes Webb, Henry Webb, and R.F. Webb;  and three sisters, Ida Mae Hill, Hattie Crawford, and Aileen Vickery.  Visitation for Mrs. Matthews will be held from 12:00 – 2:00 Wednesday, May 2, 2018, with funeral services to follow at 2:00.  All services are entrusted to Forest Hill Funeral Home and Memorial Park, East chapel, 2440 Whitten Road, Memphis, TN, 38133.  Interment will be held at Forest Hill Memorial Park, Midtown, 1661 Elvis Presley Boulevard, Memphis, TN, 38106.
