Maxine Amsden
On January 2 early in the morning Maxine Amsden age 95, awoke after a long sleep to the presence of Jesus and the others who had passed before her. Born October 10, 1928 in Macintosh, South Dakota, she lived her early years on a farm in Sioux County, North Dakota.
She met and married Dean Lester Amsden in 1952. She was a devoted Christian and member of Our Savior Lutheran Church. Her home was always opened to those in need. She was many things -a homemaker, a teacher of a one-room schoolhouse on the prairies of the Dakotas. She worked in a bakery and was an entrepreneur while a homemaker, selling Avon and Tupperware, anything to help
around the house. She enjoyed Square dancing, traveling and loved her time with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Her loving husband, Dean Amsden, her oldest son Michael Amsden and her youngest daughter Sandra Traywick and her grandson William Amsden, precedes her in death.
She is survived by her sister Lois Knoke Kohl (Allen Deceased), brother Richard Knoke, also children Denean Amsden Parker (Don), Kelly Amsden (Susan), Louisa Amsden (Michael deceased), Kaye Amsden Stewart (Ray deceased), Jimmy Traywick (Sandra deceased), Patrick Amsden (Teresa) and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great –great-grandchildren.
A graveside service for Maxine Amsden will be held on Wednesday January 10 , 2024 at 10 AM at Forest Hill South, 2545 East Holmes Rd. A briefing viewing will occur at the beginning of the service.
