Lida Maxine Bradick

May 9, 1925 - June 14, 2017


Maxine was born to Annie and Albert Denson in the rural Community of New Site, Mississippi. Her first memories were of working in the garden and picking cotton. When she started school, she soon realized that if she did well it would keep her out of the cotton fields. She excelled. Every morning she would get her chores done and be waiting for her uncle to take her to school in his covered wagon.
In high school, she was on the track team as a sprinter and medaled in regional competitions. Also, in spite of her small stature, she was fierce on the basketball court. After graduation in 1942, she received her teaching certificate. She moved to Memphis and went to work in the offices of Sears. A co-worker (her future sister-in-law) introduced her to a handsome young serviceman named Bill Bradick. It was love at first sight. They wrote each other every day. By the time the war was over and Bill came home, they knew they were meant to be together. They were married on February 22, 1945.
They raised five children, Bill, Dennis, Vicki, Brenda and Wanda. They made their home in Memphis where they worked and attended Hickory Hills Baptist Church for the majority of their lives. Bill worked for American Airlines which gave them the opportunity to travel for the first time in their lives. They went to Rome, Hawaii, Aruba, the Grand Canyon but they always got homesick for their family and their cabin in Enid, Mississippi. They would come home early so they could see their grand kids and take them fishing.
Maxine spent a lot of time in the kitchen. She was a great cook and loved feeding her family. Some of our favorites were her biscuits and chocolate gravy, banana pudding, Sunday roast, Chocolate pie and her infamous lasagna.
Upon retirement, they moved to Enid permanently. They spent ten happy years there, always in the pursuit of Crappie and entertaining friends and family with countless fish fries.
After the loss of her beloved darling, in 1994, she was determined to live and love her life so she moved to Olive Branch to be closer to her family. She joined Immanuel Baptist Church and made many friends.
She was a wonderfully dedicated mother and has always put our needs before her own. We are all very grateful and humbled by her sacrifices that she has made for her family. She is dearly loved by her five children, 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. We love you MAMAW.
