Maxine Janette Cooper, 99, of Knoxville, TN, formerly of Memphis, TN, went to heaven August 12, 2025 to meet her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Waiting to welcome her were her beloved husband of 56 years, James Travis Cooper, Sr., and her cherished grandson, Christopher Thomas Dodson.

Maxine was born in Trimble, Tennessee, July 7, 1926, to Verden and Overa Wiginton. Her family later moved to Memphis due to her father's work. It was there she met the love of her life, Travis Cooper, and they married on February 22, 1947.

A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Maxine lived a life rooted in faith. She was a true prayer warrior who raised her children and grandchildren to love the Lord and shared her faith freely with everyone around her. Her unwavering devotion to God and her family shaped generations.

Maxine is survived by her six children: Fay Danker (Rick), Cynthia Cooper, Melissa Longmire (Bob), Harriette Dodson, James Travis Cooper, Jr. (Amy Lynn), and Amy Cooper. She also leaves behind 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, each of whom she deeply loved and prayed for daily.

Though her passing leaves a profound hole in our hearts, we take comfort in knowing she is now at peace and has been waiting for this heavenly journey for a long time. Her words will forever echo in our hearts: "Love you more."

A celebration of Maxine's life will be held at Forest Hill East, 2440 Whitten Rd, Bartlett, TN 38133, on Saturday August 23, 2025 at 2 p.m. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m.
