Melissa Ann Anderson, 47, of Cordova, TN, passed away Thursday, August 29, 2024 at St. Francis Bartlett. She was born in Memphis, TN on August 8, 1977 to parents Charles Herbert and Phyllis Anderson. Melissa was a bright and loving child growing up. She grew up in church, she attended Scenic Hills United Methodist. During her elementary years at Scenic Hills Elementary, she participated in the clue program. She continued that program all through high school as well. Melissa graduated from Germantown High School. After graduating, she took her learning a step farther and began attending Memphis State and graduated with a plethora of degrees. Some of those degrees included a Master's in Business as well as a Master's Accounting. After obtaining multiple degrees, Melissa began working in Commercial Insurance, she went on to become the office manager in construction, as well as held a position as a bookkeeper at her father's electric company. Some of Melissa's interest included music as well as gardening. She had a green thumb for sure and it was not unusual to find her out in her garden at 2:00am planting and digging holes. Melissa married Cliff Downen in 1997 and from that union a beautiful daughter, Madisyn was born. She later married Steve Jones in 2004 in Gatlinburg, TN in the Smokey Mountains. Melissa is preceded in death by her father Herbert, both her brothers Josh and Scott, a grandmother Margarie Anderson, as well as her grandparents Agnes Luke Caviness and Charles Caviness. She leaves behind to cherish her memory: a daughter, Madisyn, a son-in-law Dre, her mother Phyllis, and a granddaughter, Aspen. She leaves behind countless aunts, uncles and cousins who loved her dearly. Melissa will forever be in our hearts, and we will miss her more than words can express.
