Michael Augustus Sellers, 78, of Whiteville, TN, passed away October 2, 2021, at Jackson-Madison General Hospital in Jackson, TN of cancer.

Mike was born October 20, 1942, in Hattiesburg, MS to Mance and Inez Sellers.  He graduated in 1960 from Forrest County Agricultural High School.  Soon thereafter, he moved to Memphis, TN to pursue a career in the Railroad industry.  He married the love of his life, Joann Gunter, in 1962 and Mike also began his lifelong position as a Pipefitter with the Illinois Central Gulf/CN Railroad that year.

Mike worked for the Railroad for 40 years and was a member of the International Brotherhood of Sheet Metal Workers' Union.  He was proud to represent the union and fight for workers' rights.

Mike was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed camping, fishing, and hunting.  He took his family on camping trips almost every weekend and especially loved fishing with his son, Michael Lloyd, and grandsons, Austin Duran, and Zach Sellers.  They often laughed together recalling stories of these fun trips!

Michael is survived by his loving spouse of 59 years, Joann Sellers; son, Michael Lloyd Sellers (Melissa,) daughter Kimberly Sellers Duran (Romeo;) grandchildren: Natalie Sellers, Alana Sellers Warren (Andrew,) Austin Michael Duran (Carly,) Michael Z. Sellers, Ava Sellers Graham (John Peyton;) great-granddaughter, Ruth Ellen Warren; a very special sister-in-law, Debbie McDonald, and lots of beloved nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, October 15, 2021, by Chaplain Gary Elfner, at Forest Hill East Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 2440 Whitten Road, Memphis, TN 38133. Visitation will be held from 12:30-2:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests those who wish to express sympathy consider making a donation to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
