Obituary

Michael “Mike” Lynn Vance, age 69, of Hernando, Mississippi, passed away peacefully on April 7, 2026 at Baptist Memorial Hospital surrounded by those who loved him.

Mike was born on October 10, 1956, in Memphis, Tennessee, to William and Margaret Vance. He lived a life centered around the people he loved most, always making time for family, laughter, and creating memories that will be cherished forever. He was a proud member of Hickory Withe First Baptist Church for many years and later a member of Christ Presbyterian. Mike had a deep love for Jesus, which guided how he lived, loved, and cared for others.

Mike dedicated 38 years of service to Memphis Light, Gas & Water before retiring, a reflection of his strong work ethic and commitment. In his younger years, Mike loved riding motorcycles and the sense of freedom they brought him. As the years went on he found happiness in camping trips and riding side by sides with his wife and friends but most of all in spending time with his family. Being “Pawpaw” was something Mike treasured deeply, and he took great pride in the love he shared with his grandchildren.

Mike was preceded in death by his first wife, Cynthia “Cindy” Vance; his daughter, Heather Oglesby; his son, William Vance; his grandson, Masen Oglesby; and his father, William Vance.

Mike is survived by his loving wife, DeAnna Adams; Mother, Margaret Vance; Brother, Greg Vance; Son in law, Jamie Oglesby; Stepsons, Chris Nations, and Marc Nations; Granddaughter, Madisen Dwyer; Grandsons, Jody Oglesby, Carter Oglesby, Reid Nations, and Jackson Nations; Great Granddaughters, Addi Nations, Hadleigh Oglesby and Josie Dwyer.

Mike will be remembered for the way he loved his family—with his whole heart. He was the kind of man who showed up, who made people laugh, and who made even the simplest moments feel special. The memories made with Mike—around campfires, on quiet days, and in the laughter he shared—will be held close forever.

Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing he is now in the arms of Jesus, reunited with his loved ones in heaven. His stories, his spirit, and the way he made each of us feel will never fade. He wasn’t just deeply loved—he was truly unforgettable. And while he may be gone from our sight, he will never be gone from our hearts.
